It's not too late to do some last-minute damage control with your music habits.
Spotify is shutting down rumors that it stops tracking user data for its annual Spotify Wrapped on Oct. 31.
The popular campaign allows users to see their top songs, artists and podcasts of the year to share on social media. The streaming platform also creates a playlist with a user's 100 most streamed songs and shares fun facts like whether they're in the top 1% of Taylor Swift's listeners or what their music aura looks like.
While Wrapped typically releases around late November to early December, many are under the unfounded presumption that the app only tracks listening habits between Jan. 1 to Oct. 31. On Wednesday, some users quipped online that they only have 24 hours to save their results.
Spotify has assured users that the rumor is false. The audio streamer shared a Halloween graphic on X on Thursday of a jack-o'-lantern filled with candy and a message reading: "Spotify Wrapped doesn't stop counting on October 31st."
Here's what to know about this year's Spotify Wrapped.
When will Spotify Wrapped 2024 be released?
Spotify has yet to announce when 2024 Wrapped will drop, but based on previous years, it's coming late November or early December. Over the past few years, Spotify has bumped up the Wrapped release date.
Last year's Wrapped dropped on Nov. 29. In 2022, Spotify Wrapped released on Nov. 30. In 2021 and 2020 it released on Dec. 1. In 2019 it released Dec. 5 and in 2018 it released Dec. 6.
What is Spotify Wrapped?
Established in 2016, Spotify Wrapped in an annual campaign that combines Spotify user-listening data into an interactive display of the music the user listened to the most.
Typically, Spotify Wrapped displays a user's top songs, artists and genres. Users are encouraged to share their Spotify Wrapped on social media.
User data is collected from Jan. 1 through the fall of that same year to produce a user's Spotify Wrapped.
When does Spotify Wrapped stop tracking?
Because Spotify Wrapped is released ahead of Dec. 31, users may wonder when tracking of their listening habits concludes.
Though Spotify hasn't announced what date it will stop tracking listener data for Wrapped this year, the streaming service posted to X, formerly Twitter, last year that tracking would continue through Oct. 31.
How to check your Spotify Wrapped?
When Spotify Wrapped 2024 releases, users can see their results on the app as long as no updates are pending.
What about Apple Music Replay?
In 2019, Apple jumped on the Wrapped bandwagon and released its own feature called Apple Music Replay. Functioning similarly to Spotify Wrapped, Apple Music Replay, as of this year, began releasing monthly Replay experiences, highlighting a user's listening habits at the end of each month.
A release date for 2024 Apple Music Replay has not been announced.
